FIRE DOOR INSPECTIONS

Fire doors save lives and properties. They are essential in all buildings to prevent the flow of smoke and fire, provide critical protection within a building such as escape routes, stairs and corridors and help provide a way for occupants to safely escape a building.

Just like other life safety devices, such as fire extinguishers and alarms, fire doors must have periodic inspection, testing and maintenance to ensure that they will perform as intended in a fire situation, and meet the requirements of article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005.

Current guidance recommends that fire doors and their components should be checked periodically as determined by the building’s fire risk assessment. This is usually every 6 months, or more regularly if it is used frequently.

During a fire door inspection our technicians will check for a number of components including: certification, gaps around the door frame and threshold, seals, hinges safety signage, fire rated glass, locks, and whether the door closes properly.

Following the fire door inspection you will receive a detailed report which will outline the condition and functionality of each door, plus a full list of any remedial work that is needed to bring the doors up to the necessary standard.
